Uncreative Writing — Kenneth Goldsmith

Digital allows infinite possibility and for the first time language can change media

Graphic and media in digital is a veil over lines and lines of language, eg code.

Everyone is an unwitting archivist in the digital age, when they click Save As.

When things are sent via email. They are archived by digital networks in both sender and receivers email directories and databases here, there and everywhere — It is much more complex.

Backing up, re-tweeting, saving, scanning, copying, and sending an artefact, etc, etc, has become much more important than the artefact itself.

Filtering has become power — Some of the most popular blogs, repost information from elsewhere. It's like hip hop for writing just about finding the best samples.

Today's genius is more of a programmer/director/disseminator of information than the lone tortured writer or genius.

Not creating original content has to now be seen as its own practice for writers.
